Why New Orleans EMS

New Orleans EMS is a leading agency in pre-hospital care. We provide our crews with man

Advanced Practice Paramedics

Advanced EMTs

In 2022, New Orleans EMS launched a specific scope of practice for the newest ceritification level, AEMT. After the implimentation of AEMTs to NREMT in 2013, the scope of practice has been under utilized, often leading to AEMTs practice at the EMT level. With the growing need for ALS providers New Orleans EMS implimented the AEMT level into their field response. Since their launch, the AEMTs have fit seamlessly into ALS response, only having to turn over the care to a paramedic level response 3% of the time. See the JEMS article for more information on the implimentation and check out the AEMT most up-to-date scope of practice.
